The government and Maoist leaders signed an agreement on Monday evening which extended UNMIN’s term by another four months, ending a bruising war of words between Nepal and the United Nations.
Maoist leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal signed the four-point agreement which also commits the special committee to “urgently” implement all provisions in the peace agreement. Maoist fighters in the cantonments will now also come under the purview of the special committee, and the Maoists have agreed to provide all relevant information on the fighters.
All pending points in the peace agreement will be completed by 15 December before the extension expires.

The four-point agreement signed between caretaker PM Madhav Kumar Nepal and Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
