On Saturday, a group of 34 participants came together to attend the final session of Bharatnatyam dance workshop held for the first time in Nepal. Professional and non-professional dancers were trained by Nepal’s veteran Bharatnatyam dancer Matina Manandhar for 20 days.

Bharatnatyam, a form of Indian classical dance was described in a sacred Sanskrit text-Natya Shastra by the sage Bharata Muni. Known for it’s grace, elegance and sculpture-like poses Bharatanatyam encompasses music, rhythm and expressional dance.

The workshop was  organised by the Kartik dance conservation community in Patan Darbar Square.
