India-Nepal

Rabindra Mishra deserves thanks for his thought-provoking opinion on Indian influence in Nepali politics, 'A yam between two stones (and a huge boulder)', (#157). I cannot understand why our politicians blindly support imported democracy at the cost of our nationality and sovereignty. We should not forget how India grabbed Sikkim by (mis)using Sikkimese people of Nepali origin against the Chogyal. Having remote control over Bhutan, India does not show a willingness to resolve the refugee problem. Will our own leaders be ready to sacrifice the post of prime minister to that of chief minister? Are we ready to be India's trans-Himalayan watchdog to serve her security?

Bigyan Niva,
Bishalnagar
