People resort to Tantric soothsaying when they cannot get assurances from relatives anymore, and supporters fail to shore up their self-confidence. On 22 January Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba did the same by visiting Jhunjhun Baba at Pashupatinath. The Baba assured the prime minister that no one would be able to dislodge him from office in the next three months. After that, Prime Minister Deuba returned to his residence in Baluwatar and organised a dinner for his cabinet colleagues. What this shows is that the prime minister is unsure about his own future in government. But there is a larger fear among the people in general, that the habit government has of rushing everything may endanger democracy itself?
