Surya Golf has become an integral part of the Asian circuit and put Nepal on the world golfing map. It is held in two phases: Surya Nepal Masters and Surya Nepal Western Open. Surya Nepal Masters will be held from 20-23 November at the Gokarna Forest Golf Resort, one of the most picturesque golf courses in the world. This year the organising committee expects about 90 professional golfers from Nepal and neighbouring countries to participate in the tournament. These top-notch golfing maestros will compete for a total prize money of Rs 1,600,000. The Surya Nepal Masters, the nation's only international golf tournament, continues to receive recognition from PGAI and is a part of their official tour. It is one of the 24 Order of Merit tournaments for professionals from Nepal and India. Surya Nepal Western Open will be held on 14, 15 November at the Himalayan Golf Course in Pokhara. The prize purse is Rs 125,000. The Pro-Am on 20 November, will give local golfing aspirants a chance to rub shoulders with international players. About 90 Nepali amateurs and 30 top professionals should lend the game some edge.
