The distribution of mobile service licenses worth Rs 295 million has put Minister for Information and Communications, Posta Bahadur Bogati, in a fix. His predecessors Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Agni Sapkota, also Maoists, are pushing the proposal whereas other Maoists are against the move. Bogati has now passed the buck to Nepal Telecom. Before the minister passes any such proposals, he would have to consult a ministry level committee, but due to the absence of a prime minister, Bogati is hesitant to pass the proposal in hurry. Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CA member Narayan Dahal reportedly met Bogati and urged him not to go through with the licenses. Dahal has said companies who had invested in providing limited services in the rural sector will not profit from the proposal. Investor Ajay Sumagri has shown urgency in dismissing the proposal. This led to a rift within the party.
