Two employees of the Indian Embassy in Nepal have been transferred. Those getting the transfer orders are Deputy Chief of Mission Ashok Kanth and Counsellor P.K. Kapoor. Kanth has been instructed to move on to Hongkong, where he will be India\'s Commercial Consul General. Kanth is well known in Nepal as someone who worked to sour Nepal-India relations and to make Nepal weaker visa-vis India.
Embassy sources say that Kanth was also instrumental in preparing the so-called RAW report that had named Nepali politicians and journalists as being ISI agents. Because of his faulty advice, the new ambassador, Deb Mukharji, has also been mired in controversy. Mukharji had issued a statement denying inundation due to the Laxmanpur Barrage days before Koirala\'s visit, although it was later accepted by the Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
P.K. Kapoor has been transferred to Cambodia where he will be the Indian Ambassador.
