More than 150,000 people from all over Nepal have been in the mountains of Dolpo for the past two months, scouring the high meadows for yarsagumba. They had no time to enjoy the unearthly beauty of Phoksundo Lake (above), and many wondered which federal province they would belong to when they got back home. Others didn't care. Their much more pressing concern was that they would have to return heavily indebted because of slim yarsa pickings this year.

looks like a roof top swimming pool.

motorboat parasailing may attract many.

great raw beauty. too bad this belongs to some ethnic warlord.

what is the min size needed to be a lake? this looks more like a pond.

It's pretty alright! And it's a lake!! How about that?? But it's at the elevation of over 14000ft, about 3-4 days trek from the remote Jufal Airstrip. You can carry your Motorboat/Parasail with you if you like, but I think a motorable road would be higher in the list of priority for the poor inhabitants.
Ask the ethnic Tibetan/ but Nepali Nationals who live in the upper Dolpo region, who navigate through this lake before the arrival of every winter to Jufal Airport to catch a flight to Nepalgunj, How they are treated by the security police??
They might give you better lesson about National Integrity than most of the stuffs you read out here.

Look at the scale of the water surface in relation to the surrounding mountains...does this seem like a pond to you? Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia...

Phoksundo Lake, also known as Shey Phoksundo Lake, is an alpine fresh water oligotrophic lake in Nepal's Shey Phoksundo National Park, located at an altitude of 3,611.5 m (11,849 ft) above sea level in the Dolpa District. Phoksundo Lake is 494 ha (1.91 sq mi) in size with a water volume of 409,000,000 m3 (1.44�1010 cu ft) and a discharge of 3.715 m3/s (131.2 cu ft/s).[1] In 2004, a survey by the Department of Hydrology and Meterology measured the maximum depth of the lake at 145 m (476 ft).[2]

people need opportunity to earn, road is not important in every place. they/or any other nepalese can utilize place like dolpa to earn living during tourism season and where as their family members can live/ migrate to where there is enough facility.

How they are treated by the security police??

that is one of the main reasons we need tougher law to crack down/prevent illegal aliens from getting nepali citizen so that your friends will not be harassed.

A Nepali,

its deep. alright. but not big enough. there are lakes larger than nepal.
