The interim parliament has been postponed until Mangshir 29 (15 December). The parliamentary session that started at 11:45AM on Thursday was halted two hours later. Since the interim constitution states that the CA polls should be held within the month of Mangshir, the constitution needs to be amended within this month. MPs say that the parliamentary session has been set for Mangshir 29 so that the government can present a bill for the amendment of the constitution.

Usually it takes ten days to pass a bill. The MPs need to be informed about the bill seventy two hours before it is discussed in the parliament. However, the government has not even registered the bill yet. Ananda Prasad Dhungana, the whip of the NC, informed that the bill will be passed through the special power vested in the Speaker of the House.

Surya Bahadur Thapa, from the Rastriya Janashakti Party said that the resignation of the four Madhesi MPs was a serious matter and that it could well go out of hand. He also added that the seven parties had failed to carry the responsibility that had been entrusted upon them.

Lalbabu Pandit of CPN- UMlL urged the government to set a date for the elections and condemned the Madhesi MPs for running away. Harihar Dahal of the NC said that it was shameful to have leaders try and divide the nation on the basis of caste and religion. Dev Gurung, a Maoist leader said that it was meaningless to resign from the parliament and threatened that the Maoists will start their protests if the bill on the amendment of the constitution is not passed within Mangshir.
