Yadav Prasad Pant, 82
Nepal's first PhD in economics in 1952 and former finance minister Yadav Prasad Pant died last week in Bangkok at the age of 82.
In a long and illustrious career, Pant also served as a senior economist with the UN ESCAP in Bangkok, was Nepali ambassador to Japan and minister of commerce, supplies, finance and water resrources. Pant authored more than two dozen books including Problems in Fiscal and Monetary Policy, Trade and Co-operation in South Asia and Some Aspects of Economical Planning.
