One person accused of stealing in Sthaneswore VDC in Lamjung district has died after being arrested by the Maoists and receiving a severe beating. According to CPN-UML VDC secretary Gyanprasad Adhikary the village remained tensed after the accused Santabahadur BK's died on Thursday as a result of the beating. Villagers have taken custody of the 13 Maoists cadres involved in the incident. A local Maoist leader has said that the party has taken the incident seriously and will conduct an investigation into the matter and take necessary actions against those found guilty. Villagers have demanded that those involved be punished and Santabahadur's family be compensated.
