The Seven-party alliance government and the CPN-Maoists have reached an agreement to send a joint letter to the UN to address the issue of weapons management amidst rising fears that the peace process might be in peril due to the disagreement over the issue. Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Chairman Prachanda signed the letter today after an hour long meeting held between the two at the formers official residence in Baluwatar today. Baburam Bhattarai was also present in the meeting.
The letter has already been dispatched to the Peace Secretariat with the peace talks committee. A three member UN team will receive the letter. The contents of the letter are currently being made public at a press conference in Singha Darbar.
