Nepali Congress Democratic (NC-D), in its 21-point recommendation on an interim constitution to be submitted to the Interim Constitution Drafting Committee (ICDC), has decided to opt for a federal democratic republican set up.
The central working committee made the decision on Saturday. Talking to reporters after the meeting, NC-D General Secretary Bimalendra Nidhi said "The prime objective of the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections is to establish a federal democratic republican state and make it an inclusive and participatory."
According to Himalkhabar.com, NC-D said the fate of the monarchy should be decided through either a referendum or constituent assembly polls.
Nidhi also said that NC-D has suggested that the exiting parliament should remain in place until the SPA and the Maoists reach an agreement to form 'an alternative parliament' after the management of Maoists'arms.
