Members of the Nepali Congress (NC) central committee have expressed dissatisfaction with the 8 point agreement reached on 16 June between the government and the Maoists in a meeting held today. Those who opposed it said the agreement was against the historic 18 May Parliament Proclamation that stated that the House of Representatives would not be dissolved unless a proper system to replace it was in place.

The issue arose because the leaders made the decision without discussing the matter within the party circles, said NC central committee member Arjun Narsingh KC to Himalkhabar.com. He pointed out that part of the reason for the dissatisfaction was because there was no mention in the agreement for the thousands killed, wounded, and affected by the conflict. He also said many felt that it would be best to implement the arms management before the Maoists enter the interim government.

These along with other issues like debates about who should be included in the interim constitution committee were raised in the permanent committee meeting of the Communist Party of Nepal ? United Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML). The Nepal Workers and Peasants Party and the Nepal Sadbhabana Party (Anandadebi) have also expressed their dissatisfaction over the agreement. Various other leaders like Surya Bahadur Thapa, chairman of Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) of political parties have also given the same views saying the government must see to proper arms management before bringing the Maoists to the interim government.
