At 12PM on Tuesday we went to the Home Ministry to get news on a strike that we heard included 150 employees. When we reached the ministry, we saw more than 15 police officers running. Thinking that they were going to arrest the employees, we followed them. A few men in civilian clothes were standing next to us and later we realised that they were police officers. We started to leave but one of them said, "You have to come with us." They took us to the office of Home Minister Kamal Thapa, who threatened us: "You think the Home and Defence Ministry's sensitivity to this issue is a joke? I am going to make sure you are charged." In reply we said: "Honourable Minister, if we did not understand we would not be here to get news about the protest being organised in your ministry. Information is our right." At that moment a DSP was told to seize our equipment. They took our camera and mobile phones and put us in a truck with no roof. We got soaked to the skin while waiting for almost 30 minutes with the employees. When we reached the district police office at Hanumandhoka we were made to wait in front of the toilets, inhaling the stench, for over two hours. Then seven-eight of us were crammed into tiny rooms that were filthy. Finally at 8PM officials from the Federation of Nepali Journalists and the Nepal Bar Association bailed us out.
