At Gongabu, the armed police force injured over 25 demonstrators while trying to stop them from vandalising AIG Rup Sagar Moktan\'s house this afternoon. The peaceful democratic rally turned violent when security personnel guarding the house fired blank shots, which infuriated the local people. Nearly 1,000 demonstrators were seen pelting stones at the house. In return, the security personnel retaliated with gun shots from inside the house. Despite the intervention by RNA officers, the firing continued. One of the shooters, 32-year old Nanda Prasad Tamang a police constable, tried to flee the house but was caught and brutally beaten by angry demonstrators. Meanwhile, rumours spread that the Maoists were launching an attack against the security forces.
