Re: "Saddamised" (Here and There, # 198). Daniel Lak, like all flip-floppers, has pretty good hindsight. If I'm not mistaken, he once wrote in this very column that Saddam was an evil man who had used chemical weapons on his own people and that America was doing the right thing by going to war to get rid of him. Now he claims that the invasion of Iraq 'was a huge mistake'. Even Americans (a majority of whom were in support of the war) 'are now changing their minds', he says. It's not on moral grounds, that's for sure. Would this change have taken place if fewer American lives had been lost and things had progressed according to US plans for 'liberating' the Iraqi people? 'When the going gets tough, the tough get going' is a popular American saying. I leave it up to your readership to decide as to who is more worthy of this saying -the Americans or the Iraqi people?
