Media is such an important tool that it can raise a person's faith or shatter it. Why then, do you publish vicious letters by such people as Sudip Pokhrel of Maligaon (Letters, #120) about Surendra Lawoti's phoptographs ("Life in a different light", #117)? Sudip Pokhrel, I'm sure you can't help it that you are an ignorant and envious "inar ko bhyaguto". The only feeling you know is: "How dare anyone do better than me?" Face it, it's a common Nepali affliction. You should be proud that Surendra Lawoti is trying his best to capture life under two different cultures. It is not an easy task. Instead of abusing him, you should encourage him, or suggest ways to improve his work. Your letter has disheartened Nepalis in the Chicago area. Better ask for forgiveness.
