I am sending this note to you in the hope that someone will take action against the Nepali border police in Tatopani. A group of 13 tourists from Colombia and Switzerland, we crossed over the Friendship Bridge. The Nepali immigration officer said we didn't have the Chinese exit stamp and must go back to Zhangnu to get it. There was no way we were going back, the Nepali officer seemed to know this and he must have done this before. He would neither talk to me nor look me in the eye. What on earth would a Nepali official be worried about a Chinese exit stamp? Where else could we possibly come from, but from Tibet? He finally accepted a gift of $50. Shame. Then the immigration in Kathmandu wanted $30 for processing our entry visas. We paid, there was no other way.

Other than that, we loved Nepal.
