Nepal disgraced at UN

The Prime Minister at the UN Summit it seems has done more harm than good for the country. First of all, he insisted on speaking in English, a language in which he is not fluent at all. He went on to make a mess of himself. Indian Prime Minister Aral Behari is fluent in English, still he spoke in Hindi and used an interpreter. Koirala ought to have used a Nepali interpreter.

He again stuck to speaking in English on the CNN\'s Q&A programme. When asked about the total number of Bhutanese refugees in Nepal, he replied "hundred million". He should know that the number is hundred thousand. Koirala also didn\'t do his image or the country\'s any good, when he fumbled with the facts and figures concerning Nepal. Same was the case with his replies on corruption and the Maoist insurgency. Experts feel that the unsolved Maoist problem has led to cutbacks in aid and grants.

When a Vietnamese journalist quizzed Koirala on his kitchen cabinet and the influence that his family members has on the government, the PM called it a "stupid question", and refused to answer.
