Prime Minister Koirala is in New York to attend the UN Summit. A few days ago, he was on the CNN\'s Q&A program and because of the way he presented himself, a lot of Nepalis feel that he has insulted Nepal.
After watching the interview, one gets the feeling that the PM was unprepared, crude, not diplomatic at all, and not up to the mark. To a particular question concerning the bandh called by the left parties, he said that the opposition had no work and would not be able to affect him in any way. The leftists are livid and baying for his blood.
He also stated that a small country like Nepal would not be able to mediate properly in the India-Pakistan crisis. People are wondering, "Does size matter, or is it the proximity to the countries concerned that counts?
Another point that has left the people disenchanted is the PM\'s poor English. If he is not fluent in that language, would it not have been better to have an interpreter? People feel that if he had one then he would not have made a fool of himself.
