Long-time Koirala loyalist Khum Bahadur Khadka is leading a group within the Congress party to give the prime minister an ultimatum: be party president or prime minister, not both.
Khadka helped Koirala topple his predecessor Krishna Prasad Bhattarai in March and wanted to be rewarded with the home minister\'s job. Koirala gave him two mega-ministries: Water Resources, and Infrastructure and Works-which make up half the development budget. But Khadka, right, wanted power, not only money. He never pretended he was happy with what he had and warned Koirala several times. The sacking of Aftab Alam-a Khadka protege-was the last straw.
