The second meeting of the Legislature Parliament on Friday wa- disrupted due to protests from opposition parties including the UCPN (Maoist) and RPP Nepal.

The meeting has been adjourned till 3:00 pm Sunday.

At the commencement of the meeting, opposition party leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal of UCPN (M) expressed his objection to the non-implementation of an agreement on constituting a parliamentary committee to probe alleged irregularities in the second Constituent Assembly election.

Following the objection from opposition parliamentary party leader, Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang announced the postponement of the meeting until 1 June.

Leader Dahal accused the government of not enforcing the four-point political agreement and performing in an irresponsible manner. He expressed his concern over the ‘exclusion’ of opposition parties and even some ruling parties in the budget preparation and drew attention of the government towards that end.

“The government agreed to form a committee to address questions raised by us regarding the validity of the CA election and such agreement helped the parliament carry out its activities smoothly. But, the non-implementation of the agreement has hampered the constitution drafting process,” he said.

He drew attention of the government towards delay in forming the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, ending instability surfaced at the Nepal Tourism Board, exploitation of criteria in the promotion of additional Inspector General of Police and misappropriation of budget.

In today’s meeting, Minister for Finance Dr Ram Sharan Mahat was scheduled to table the proposal in regard to the principles of appropriation bill for 2014-2015.
