The government has set up a body similar to the past High Level Political Committee (HLPC). It has been named as the Coalition Government Coordination Committee (CGCC) and has leaders of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.
On behalf of NC, PM Sushil Koirala, Sher Bahdur Deuba, Ram Chandra Poudel, Prakash Man Singh and Krishna Prasad Sitaula are in the committee. Similarly, on behalf of UML, Deputy PM Bamdev Gautam, UML Chairperson Jhalanath Khanal, KP Oli, Madhav Kumar Nepal and Ishwor Pokhrel are in the committee.
The committee will help the government discharge its duties smoothly and provide guidelines, too. “Top five leaders each from NC and UML have been inducted in the committee in today’s meeting,” said NC secretary Sitaula while informing about the joint meeting of NC and UML held on Monday.
“The committee will facilitate discussions between NC and UML organising meetings frequently,” Situala added.
Meanwhile, the NC and UML’s joint meeting has decided to form a four-member task force to forge consensus in various committees of the Constituent Assembly. UML has decided to send Bishnu Poudel and Bhim Acharya to the committee, while NC is yet to provide the final two names.
The meeting has further decided to hold discussions among three largest parties, including the third largest party UCPN (Maoist).
“We three parties need to discuss many issues including nomination of 26 CA members and various committees to be set up under the CA,” Sitaula further said.
