Police arrested twelve people staging a peaceful protest at Occupy Baluwatar near the prime minister’s residence in Kathmandu this morning. Activists have been calling on the government to end violence against women and impunity for the last 103 days through the Occupy Baluwatar movement.
The police had been restricting the protest to the pavements for the last few days and arrested Ishan Adhikari from Occupy Baluwatar two days ago saying he was disrupting traffic.He was later released the same day.
The twelve people who were arrested from Baluwatar were taken to the police station in Kamal Pokhari were released in the afternoon.
