The CPN-M has come up with four demands to be met before the polls are held.

It wants the four-party agreement to be cancelled, the Regmi-led government resign, an all-party roundtable meeting to discuss alternatives, and a national government led by the political parties if polls are to be held.

At a press conference on Thursday, the party’s general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa said his party would boycott the elections if these conditions are not fulfilled, and added that the four parties, the president, and the current government would be responsible for the events that unfolded afterwards.

But Baidya told reporters that the decisions to boycott elections was not final, and his party would only make plans for protests if a meeting with other parties did not address their demands.
