Less than a week after the parties forged an agreement to form a national unity government and hold CA elections in April next year, they are at loggerheads over who would lead the next government.

Speaking at a programme in Pokhara on Monday, UCPN(M) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal stated, the electoral government will not be headed by the NC. “Earlier there was an agreement that it would be Nepali Congress would lead after the CA revival, but things have changed and there will be preconditions before we agree to NC led government”, he said.

Meanwhile, 13 opposition parties met at Nepali Congress central offices on Monday where they have decided to give an ultimatum to the Baburam Bhattarai government to step down or face street protests. After the meeting, NC spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu informed the journalists that his party will make final negotiation with the current government.

Similarly, the breakaway faction of the Maoists also held its separate meeting in Kathmandu where the leaders warned of agitation against the diktat of major parties and Madhesi Front.
