The main opposition parties Nepali Congress and UML have said they will not enter into dialogue with the new Federal Democratic Republican Alliance of 20 parties headed by the UCPN(M).
A meeting between the opposition parties and the UCPN(M) is scheduled for 4pm on Sunday, 26 August where the opposition parties will seek the resignation of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai as the first step towards seeking consensus.
Meanwhile, the FDRA has set up a nine member secretariat led by UCPN(M) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and has called for an all-party meet on 4 September.
