In the wake of the recent rise of fatal road accidents in national highways, the government on Tuesday directed the bodies concerned to take measures for effective monitoring to avert such accidents in the future.

The Government’s decision comes following the recent killer road accidents in Nawalparasi, Chitwan and other parts of the country.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a stern directive to the Regional Administration Offices, Police Headquarters and all other offices of Nepal Police to carry out regular monitoring to stop rising road accidents and adopt road safety measures.

The Ministry has also cautioned the security officials including traffic to stop vehicles carrying overloads, not to allow passengers to exceed seat capacity and monitor vehicles’ speed by considering the situation of roads and traffic density.

Assistant Spokesperson at the Ministry, Ekmani Nepal told RSS that a circular has been issued to stop vehicles plying on the road without route permit.

Similarly, lane discipline, provision of two drivers for long route and others will be taken into consideration in course of the security check.
