After weeks of heightened hostility following the CA dissolution, for the first time the four big parties held a joint meeting on Wednesday at Nepali Congress’s party office in Sanepa. The meeting comes ahead of NC-UML’s planned protests against the Maoist-Madhesi led government.
Although the opposition continues to protest against the present government, the new development is being seen as a result of informal agreement reached among the parties at President Ram Baran Yadav’s residence earlier this week. President Yadav had invited the leaders of all major parties to Shital Niwas this week to initiate a dialogue among the parties and pave way out of current political impasse.
After the meeting UML leader Madhav Nepal said, “ We have agreed to work together to find a solution and form a national government soon.” It is learned that the meeting took place in a cordial environment and the leaders refrained from the past blame games.
However, it is yet to be seen if the mood will sustain and be reflected throughout until the parties are able to form an all party government, find a common grounds on crucial issues and declare constitution.
