The government and an agitating armed group in Tarai, Samyukta Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha led by Pawan group reached a four-point agreement here on Saturday.
The agreement was reached between the government talks team coordinated by Minister for Peace and Reconstruction, Satya Pahadi, and Morcha leader, Prahlad Giri also known as Pawan.
As per the agreement, the Morcha will hand over its weapons to the government, while the Peace Ministry is to initiate process to release the leaders and cadres of the Morcha in detention and withdraw cases against them. Similarly, both sides would implement the agreements made earlier, and fix the date and time for next talks as the agreement, said Minister Pahadi after the talks.
According to Minister Pahadi, the Morcha handed over various eight pistols to the government.
Minister Pahadi urged all the armed groups agitating with political agenda to come to negotiation table to quit the conflict. Similarly, talks coordinator from the Morcha, Prahladi Giri urged all armed outfits to come to mainstream politics through dialogue.
