The Legislature-Parliament’s State Affairs Committee is preparing to inquire Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal about the citizenship and passport of the newly-elected Minister of State for Finance, Lharkyal Lama.
“A meeting of the State Affairs Committee held in Singha Durbar on Tuesday decided to question the Prime Minister about the acquisition of citizenship certificates and passports by Minister Lama from different countries,” said Committee Chairman Ram Nath Dhakal.
The Committee members had expressed concerns about the multiple passports and citizenships reportedly taken by the State Minister Lama and stressed on an investigation.
Even the members of UML’s Advisory Council had expressed discontent over the appointment of Lama, although he figured in the black list of the CIAA for investigation. Lama had recently entered the party.
