The leaders and cadres of the UML have expressed contradictory views about the seven-point deal inked by their party chairman and now the prime minister, Jhal Nath Khanal and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Speaking at an interaction organized in the capital on Sunday, politburo member of the UML, Prakash Jwala said that objections to the seven-point deal meant foiling the peace process. He added that as the UML standing committee had clarified the deal, it was unnecessary to impede the political progress merely on this issue.
However, central member of the UML, Jagannath Khatiwada said that as the UML and the Maoists cannot accomplish the duties on peace process and constitution-writing alone, there was no alternative to amending the seven-point deal. He argued that to conclude the peace process and writing constitution, it is essential to include the Nepali Congress and the Madhes-based parties in the government, he argued.
However, another leader of the party Rijman Ansari said the seven-point was already discussed among the senior leaders of the UML and the Maoist and party’s politburo meeting on Monday will endorse it.

Yes,Khanal and Dahal decided ,signed and thought that’s all there is.The rest of us is just a herd of sheeps. The Peace process has been foiled since the moment Maoist twisted the signed agreement between Government,UNMIN and maoists. How can ever Khanal ,Dahal and his party cadres even think of signing this 7 point agreement if it goes against the basic rights of every member of the society. The rest of our voices and opinions doesn’t even count. Our only alternative is to work in the constructive opposition,to make sure that UNMIN ,Government and maoist signed deal is implemented point by point and no side tracking or giving any excuses, and to continue to write Constitution ,to continue constructive ,sincere approach to every implementation, every task we set in front of us,we decide and we do and we complete, every small task in all spheres of our society.Waiting for Dahal and Khanal is like writing of another 15 years of life.
