Nepali Congress has withdrawn its candidacy from the prime ministerial election. NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba formally announced the withdrawal of Ram Chandra Poudel’s candidacy in the parliament session on Wednesday.
“The ongoing election process did not elect a new PM. We have decided to withdraw the candidacy so that a new process could be started,” he said.
Speaker Subas Nembang announced the end of the ongoing election process. He said the regulations could be amended if need be in the new process to elect a new prime minister.
Speaking briefly to the reporters outside the CA hall, Poudel said he agreed to withdraw after reaching an agreement with the other parties.
The next session of parliament has been called on Thursday, 3pm.
