The Committee on International Relations and Human Rights of the Legislature-Parliament has directed the government to call back Nepali ambassador to India, Rukma Shumsher Rana.

The Committee’s meeting held on Sunday took a decision to this effect to investigate Rana’s involvement as the Managing Director of the Dubar Nepal, a Nepal-India joint venture production company. The decision was taken unanimously.

Committee’s Chairperson Padmalal BK said the government has been urged to call back Rana as his connection with Dabur Nepal makes him unsuitable to hold holding such a prestigious post. Dabur Nepal has been under the investigation of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse and Authority (CIAA).

The meeting also issued a directive to the Government to investigate into the case of Nepali Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Hamid Ansari and call him back if he is found guilty. Ambassador Ansari has been charged of depositing the compensation amount given to the deceased Nepali migrant workers by the company concerned, into his own bank account.

Similarly, BK said a decision was made to invite Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal to the committee meeting to discuss about the exit of the United Nations Mission in Nepal.
