Ring Road fills with protesters



Over 500,000 people are participating in demonstrations around Ring Road. According to recent reports from Satdobato, protesters are slowly surrounding Kathmandu from all the sides in Ring Road. Protesters broke several barricades set up by the police along the Ring Road and have reached Kalanki area from Maharajgunj. Security is reported to be very high along Ring Road but no violence has been reported so far. In Satdobato, the crowd is chanting anti-king slogans and slowly moving along the 27km Ring Road towards Koteswor and beyond.

In today\'s demonstrations, protesters are demanding the bodies of those deceased in Kalanki yesterday be made public and handed over to their families. Some three dozen policemen took the bodies three protesters killed in Kalanki by breaking the locks of the Kathmandu Model Hospital, yesterday. The body of Basu Ghimire, one of the three who died yesterday in Kalanki was forcibly cremated by security forces at Pashupati today. Ghimire\'s wife and parents in Makwanpur had requested his body be sent to Makwanpur for last rites.

The district administration offices of Kathmandu and Lalitpur Friday extended curfew within the Ring Road by four hours. The curfew will now end at 12AM on 22 April.
