Coming this winter: 20 hour power cuts daily

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has got his energy czars to ensure that load-shedding does not exceed 12 hours a day this winter, but with no addition in generation capacity and no transmission lines, it doesn't look likely.

Hello darkness my old friend, BHRIKUTI RAI
The politics of power is making Nepal powerless

1. Paul Krugman
Massive power cuts, living in darkness.

Brought to you by your leaders in arms, the Maobadi.

Your gratefulness for being ruled is acknowledged.

2. Vince C.
Whatever the merits of the above comment, if definitely does NOT come from New York Times columnist, Princeton Professor, Paul Krugman! In fact, the author's misleading moniker undermines the comment's credibility.

3. Krishna Chetteri
Disgrace to the planners, bureacrats, and politicians of Nepal in creating a mess of the hydropower situation in Nepal. It is deplorable that a country with such massive potential is making the citizens suffer. Nepal should be having electricity connected to every house in the country for cooking, lighting, and other uses at half the cost of the present tarriff. The greed and avarice of the commission agents and planners have destroyed the country.

4. Ktm Babu
From a solution point of view: No load shedding.
Situation: Demand exceeds Supply
Locus of Control: We can't change the policy right now, but we can curb our demand. As we talk about hydro and stuff, let's reflect and curb our electricity consumption as well. If, and I know its a big IF everyone curbs a little bit in the demand side, it would be helpful. I am not defending anyone, But just saying that lets think of a solution, short term and long term, rather than finger point, and talk about the problems.

Why even bother with the remaining 4 hours?

6. yam gurung

Because of the incompetent and puppet leaders of Nepal. We the innocent people of Nepal are facing all kinds of problems.

7. Bibek Shrestha
Was the motive behind this news piece to provoke people and fuel a hatred about incompetent leaders than to actually shed light on current power situation. I would highly appreciate if it was the latter and request the author to put more credible sources to support the statement in the title.

8. SL
My vote to any leader who can deliver timely constitution & sufficient electricity to us. No other agenda to be compromised with.
