Get it?

First, I don't understand why this "Doctor" (Letters, #97) finds Kunda Dixit's Under My Hats so hard to understand. Sense of humour anyone? Second, just because he feels like a jenny ass does not mean the Under My Hat columns are incoherent blubber. Perhaps Daktar-syap needs to stay in the US a little longer to learn about the fine nuances of English language. Third, why should Kunda explain his columns to Luitel? Either you get it or you don't. Or just by the virtue of being a vacationing "doctor" from the hallowed Amrika, does he think Kunda should consider him special and spend his precious time with him? I, for one, am a fan of Under My Hat. And, Kunda, don't let these hecklers bother you even a bit.

. I like Kunda Dixit's suggestions for jazzing up football, ("Man of the match", #98)-especially the last two:
4. Increase the number of players on each side from 11 to 56.
5. Reduce the ball size to that of a tennis ball.
On your point about more goals allowing more commercial breaks, here in the States I suspect that soccer will never be big because the clock never stops-except at halftime. In a nation where commercials have upstaged the game itself, apropos the Super Bowl, there must always be advertising with sport. Can the one exist without the other ever again? Thanks also for introducing the column "Sucker for Soccer"-here is one American who is valiantly trying to find the romance of this game. I agree with Bill that there are geopolitical hypotheticals. The Italian coach had a good supply of Holy Water which he sprinkled in the right places, but it was not revealed which team the Pope was rooting for. Mexico has overtaken Argentina economically, and now it has in soccer too. There is a general malicious satisfaction in the UK about the early exit of the French.
