An anti-corruption activist has submitted another application at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), seeking information property details of the anti-graft body’s Chief Lok Man Singh Karki.

Suman Shrestha of the Campaign Against Corruption Nepal had registered an application at the CIAA on 5 April, asking Karki to inform people whether he has furnished property details and their sources to the concerned government body as required by the Anti Corruption Act-2002.

Karki did not inform the applicant about whether he furnished his property details, and Shrestha submitted another application at the CIAA on Sunday.

In a press statement, Shrestha said: “The fact that the CIAA remained silent for three nearly three weeks about the application seeking its Chief Lok Man Singh Karki’s property details has raised speculations over his approach to curbing corruption.”

The statement further reads: “It is a matter of concern for common people that an anti-graft body like the CIAA is in itself not transparent and is overstepping its jurisdictions.”
